| IOWA WORKERS' COMPENSATION INCOME BENEFITS |
| Iowa's Workers' compensation system provides a number of benefits available to injured workers, including all costs for medical care to treat the injury and income replacement benefits while you are off work recovering. In addition, benefits for any injury or condition that causes some permanent loss of function of your body will entitle you to permanent partial disability benefits. The amount of benefits you receive depends on a number of different factors, including the nature and severity of your injury, your ability to return to the type of work you were doing at the time you were injured and other factors.
Benefits may be provided not only for the injured worker but also for the children and spouse of an injured worker who dies as the result of a work related injury. Some of the types of Workers' compensation benefits are discussed below. READ MORE >> |

| Under Iowa law, if you are injured in a work related accident and suffer a permanent disability you have a right to receive disability benefits. A permanent disability may relate to either an injury or occupational disease.
The amount of Workers' compensation benefits you will receive will depend on the body part that is injured, the degree to which it is impaired and how it effects your ability to be gainfully employed. Your injury may be a permanent partial disability or a permanent total disability. A permanent partial disability limits your ability to return to your job. A permanent total disability completely limits your ability to maintain any gainful employment. READ MORE>> |

General Information about Workers' Compensation
"Workers' compensation" refers to both the benefits that employees injured on the job are entitled to and the method for obtaining those benefits. Workers' compensation laws are set by each state and these laws can vary from state to state. Additionally, the federal government has workers' compensation laws for federal government employees and employees in certain types of jobs.
In most states, the laws require every business to have some type of workers' compensation insurance to cover employee's injuries on the job. When an employee is injured, that employee files a workers' compensation claim. Filing this claim is similar to filing a claim with an insurance company. The employee isn't filing a lawsuit against their employer. Instead, he or she is filing a request for benefits. If you have been injured at your job, a lawyer experienced in workers' compensation claims can help you understand your claim and assist you in obtaining the maximum benefits possible.
